Large, fine Nain rug, Iran. High-quality silky lambswool velvet, flowers surrounded by silk, on cotton foundations, density approx. 7,500 knots per dm2. Ivory field with scrolls of fine crenellated stems with flowery palmettes, adorned with a large central rosette with a crown of beige, ruby and midnight-blue flowers, four spandrels with decor echoing the central medallion, the five borders, the main one beige with a sowing of floral bulbs encircled by fine branchlets in the form of ruby and bluish-grey rings. Circa 1975/1980, 364 x 255 cm, very good condition, we recommend cleaning to bring out the colors.
