Original and fine Nain rug, Iran, circa 1975. High-quality silky lambswool velvet, flowers surrounded by silk, on cotton foundations, density approx. 7,500 knots per dm2. Ivory field with animal decoration reminiscent of 17th-century Persian miniatures: surrounded by finely drawn trees of life inlaid with rows and reserves, cartouches and floral bulbs, adorned with stylized animals and birds. Triple border, the main one with a succession of stylized mihrabs inlaid with polychrome flower compositions. Good overall condition, 340 x 216 cm
